Global Programs & Initiatives

Student members receive priority preparation pipelines, mentor resources, and funding structures for official IEEE global initiatives.

IEEEXtreme Coding Marathon

Global Competition

IEEEXtreme is a global 24-hour virtual competitive programming challenge. Teams of IEEE student members solve a series of algorithmic coding problems under the guidance of a local proctor.

Our chapter hosts preparation bootcamps focusing on:

  • Dynamic programming, space-time complexity, and data structures.
  • Graph algorithms (Dijkstra's, BFS, DFS).
  • Mock coding runs simulating live contest conditions.

IEEE STEP Program

Career Development

The Student Transition and Elevation Partnership (STEP) is an IEEE platform that guides graduating students in transitioning from college into early professional engineering careers.

Our chapter coordinates local STEP workshops presenting:

  • Interaction panels with industry leaders and HR coordinators.
  • Workshops on technical portfolio design and project management.
  • Guidance on corporate internships and job opportunities.

EPICS in IEEE

Community Funding

EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) provides funding and mentorship for student-led teams to build technical solutions for local community issues.

Our Strategic Outreach division coordinates EPICS project teams to help students:

  • Identify local needs (e.g. smart water monitoring, digital literacy platforms).
  • Draft professional project grant proposals for global IEEE approval.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain engineering systems for community benefit.

Tech4Good Sustainability

Ecological Initiative

The Tech4Good initiative provides seed funding and support for student-led hardware or software projects solving environmental threats.

Members explore the intersection of technology and sustainability by:

  • Developing sensor networks for agricultural and soil monitoring.
  • Analyzing resource data using machine learning to optimize utility layouts.
  • Compiling telemetry tools to calculate and reduce carbon footprints.

IEEE Potentials Publication

Research Platform

IEEE Potentials is a global publication for students and young professionals. It publishes peer-reviewed research reviews and emergent technological summaries.

The ITS Student Chapter assists members by:

  • Translating academic project findings into structured technical summaries.
  • Navigating standard peer review and journal submission formatting.
  • Publishing work to gain early international research citations.
